Public Participation GIS Workshop
Tuesday 8 June 13.00-15.30 EEST (UTC+3)
Maptionnaire is a leading PPGIS application development platform on the market. The platform allows the collection of rich and detailed spatial and non-spatial data that is applicable to practice-based and research settings. For example, local governments have employed Maptionnaire to gather map-based responses on specific places within their cities to understand citizen perspectives.
During the workshop, the participants will get a sneak-peek of the Maptionnaire editor and be able to create their own demo questionnaire. We will also have a look at interesting community engagement project examples around the globe that make innovative use of the tool. It is suggested that in order to get the most out of the workshop, participants think of the questions they want to ask on a map beforehand.
Learning Objectives
1) Workshop participants will be able to describe the benefits and advantages of using a map-based survey for community engagement.
2) Workshop participants will be led through a Maptionnaire survey demonstration and try to create their own map-based survey.
3) Workshop participants will interactively discuss the capabilities, applications, and data outputs and analysis functions associated with Maptionnaire.
4) Workshop participants will have the opportunity to ask Maptionnaire specialists questions regarding specific projects or topics of interest.

Facilitating Digital Negotiations with Geodesignhub
Tuesday 8 June 17.00-20.00 EEST (UTC+3)
As cities continue to grow and new urban mobility practices emerge, the design of streets often no longer fit with the citizens’ demand of high-quality public spaces. This has a direct impact on the experience of the citizens who use the street. The temporary closure of a main street in Santiago de Chile was taken as an opportunity to rethink the way it operated and propose tactical interventions focused on wellbeing and development of new pedestrian experiences.
Any interventions that are implemented need a negotiation with the different stakeholders who use the street. How do you enable such negotiations? How do you choose what set of interventions work the best?
In this workshop you will learn how digital negotiations can develop a consensus when it comes to making decisions. These negotiations can be undertaken in short online or in-person meetings and you will participate in an online meeting to negotiate develop a way forward for the street.
Learning Objectives
Understand: In this session the participants will understand how digital technologies can support place focused negotiations. Citizen wellbeing is about implementing practical projects that help the residents. However, any projects that are implemented need negotiation with the different stakeholders. How do you enable such negotiations?
Learn: In this workshop, the participants will get a flavor of a new type of digital negotiations using Geodesinghub.com. They will be introduced to a systematic method to create and analyze alternative futures for a place and enable people from different disciplines and trainings to come together and negotiate over these ideas to develop consensus.
Develop: Developing the management capacity of public administration is a very important problem. The problem spans many actors and stakeholders: government, private institutions, citizens. As the problems faced by public administrators increase, it is crucial to find a way to become more efficient and develop support mechanisms.
